Your guide to staying active over Christmas

Squeeze in movement *and* mince pies

During the festive season, exercise is often replaced with endless socialising, mulled wine, and lying on the sofa watching Christmas films with a selection box in tow.

Of course, rest and relaxation at this time of year are important. But staying active over Christmas comes with lots of perks, too.

You’re less stressed – think fewer festive rows, breezing through Christmas dinner prep, and a higher tolerance to hosting those in-laws.

You have more energy – for decorating, Christmas parties, and everything in between.

Your immune system is more resilient – excellent news for cold and flu season, which also happens to coincide with Christmas.

With that in mind, here are a few ways to work movement into your busy festive calendar – while still enjoying all the merriment.

Keep it short n sweet

Let’s be real: you probably won’t be sticking to your typical workout schedule his month. And that’s okay! Remember: all movement is good movement.

Just try to squeeze in 10 minutes whenever – and wherever – you can. Around present-wrapping, Turkey-prepping, and last-minute-socialising.

You could even stack shorter sessions if you end up with more time. Start with a 10-minute workout. Feeling inspired? Add another.

Thankfully, Mvmnt has hundreds of quick and effective workouts to see you through the festive season.

Reduce the friction

Staying active over Christmas is all about making life super easy for yourself. And one of the best ways to do that is by lowering the barrier to entry.

This could mean:

- Wearing your workout gear around the house

- Leaving dumbbells in plain sight

- Lying your yoga mat out ready for use

- Keep a full water bottle with your equipment

Then, when you have a moment to jump into a quick Mvmnt session, you can – with ease.

Create a cosy workout corner

Alongside reducing the friction, try designating a small, cosy, clutter-free corner of your home as your festive fitness space.

That way, you can take yourself off with Mvmnt on your mobile or laptop and get a quick workout in.

And the effort required is practically zero. No leaving the house. No facing the cold. Just pop on your favourite workout and get moving.

Make the most of the mornings

Consider exercising first thing, before the excitement of the day takes over. Again, it doesn’t have to be long – just a little something to boost your mood and your energy.

Plus, a morning workout frees you up for socialising, Christmas films, and getting cosy with the family…especially if you’ve had a glass of fizz (or two) by that point.

Put simply, win the morning = win the day.

Get the whole family involved

Christmas is often a family affair – so why not use that to your advantage and get everyone moving together?

More accountability, more motivation, more quality time.

And the best part? The Mvmnt Family collection has everything you need to get started – from space missions to superhero adventures.

Train with a coach who actually motivates you

Finding a coach who clicks could be the secret to staying active over Christmas.

It’s the same reason you keep going back to that hairdresser who knows exactly what you like.

That coffee shop that remembers your order.

That friend who always gives you good advice.

Connection builds trust, and trust builds consistency. Simple.

Maybe you love Fasial’s infectious energy?

Nat’s Dad jokes?

Or Jo-Leigh’s pure serenity?

Whoever you connect with, make sure they’re in your corner this season.

Be kind to yourself

Remember, Christmas is about relaxing and recharging. If you can’t move as much as usual, that’s okay – and honestly, kind of expected.

Above all, be kind to yourself. And give yourself permission to have fun.

Mvmnt makes it easy to move around your festive calendar. Jump in now to get started.
