Simon's story: why family fitness is the best workout

Read why Simon loves family workouts

We love seeing our Mvmnt community getting active.

But when it’s a family workout? Even better.

One of our long-standing members, Simon, is a big fan of working out with his kids.

He shared some of his insights that perfectly capture the magic (and fun!) of family fitness.

More than just a workout

For Simon, exercising with his children rolls “routine, moments of pure joy, and an important lesson in hard work” into one.

When you work out as a family, you're not just ticking a box on a to-do list; you're enjoying a shared experience. Cheering each other on. Having fun.

It’s so much more than building physical strength. It’s about building stronger bonds, where support and teamwork are second nature.

It’s also a chance to show little ones that effort actually pays off. They see firsthand how dedication leads to progress – a lesson that lasts far beyond the garden or the gym.

The ultimate team sport? We like to think so.

The cure for workout boredom

Boredom can be the biggest enemy of a consistent routine. That's why variety matters.

Simon says Mvmnt has been key in helping his family "lock in some good routines" while offering the diversity they need to "switch things up so we don't get bored".

That’s exactly why our Mvmnt Family collection offers workouts that are simple enough for a 7-year-old, but still challenging enough for parents. Perfect for keeping everyone active and engaged.

Be a role model for kids’ fitness

Simon also believes “getting kids active is about being a role model” – and he’s right.

Kids are like sponges. They pick up healthy habits, positive attitudes towards exercise, and how to find joy in moving their bodies from the adults around them.

That’s why leading by example is important.

Family workouts aren’t just good for health – they’re one of the best gifts you can give your children, especially when rates of childhood obesity and mental health struggles are on the rise.

Simon says...

Here are some of Simon’s tips for getting the entire family moving.

  • Start small: Short, playful sessions beat long, tough ones.
  • Get creative: Turn a walk into a scavenger hunt, transform your garden into an epic obstacle course, or play a game of tag.
  • Invite them in: Don't just tell your kids to be active (which, more often than not, never works) – lead by example and invite them to join you.

At the end of the day, family fitness isn't about being perfect; it's about being present. It’s about being a team and finding joy in moving together.

The Mvmnt Family collection is made for messy mornings, post-nap wiggles, and sweaty bops between snack runs.
